Hello, Region Five members,
What a show! I can’t tell you how great it was to see so many of you at The ARA Show™ in Las Vegas. It was an awesome event, from the educational sessions and the trade show floor to the Oktoberfest, the combined regional receptions and all the networking. After everything we have gone through as an industry and a nation, I can’t tell you how nice it was just to gather again.
If you weren’t able to attend the show or didn’t get enough of it when you were in Las Vegas, head down to Grapevine, Texas, March 9-10 for the American Rental Association (ARA) Rental Innovation Conference & Exhibits. Watch your email for information on how to take part. It will be an event that can move your business forward.
Thank you to everyone who voted in the ARA elections. Those are important decisions, so thanks for participating. Our state chapters in Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio also held elections recently. Please thank all of those who serve and also offer a special welcome to new board members Justin Williams from Kentucky, Joe Craley and Amanda Withee, CERP, from Ohio, and Kathy Viebach and Mandy Hart from Michigan. Learn more about these new board members in this issue of In Your Region.
Our region has been very busy hosting events these past few months with more scheduled soon. Take a look in this issue for event recaps and information on how you can take part in the ones that are coming up, including the ARA of Illinois event at the United Center to see the Chicago Blackhawks play and the ARA of Michigan’s Winter Conference. These events allow those of us in rental to socialize, learn from each other and share the latest information on equipment and such. All are key reasons why everyone should take advantage of these opportunities.
As many of us move into our slower time of the year, use the opportunity to educate yourself and/or your employees with the multitude of resources available on RentalU. There are offerings for every job description. This is a member resource designed just for those of us in rental. ARA is always adding exciting new offerings, so watch for news on the latest updates that can benefit everyone at your operation.

Connie Lannan is special projects editor for Rental Management. She helps plan, coordinate, write and edit ARA’s quarterly regional newsletters, In Your Region. She also researches, writes and edits news and feature articles for Rental Management, Rental Pulse, supplements, special reports and other special projects.
