The 2022 Canadian Rental Mart, hosted Sept. 27-28 at The International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, offered plenty of rental equipment on display in addition to networking activities and compelling guest speakers. This year, “Putting ARA Benefits to Work for You,” an informational session about all the latest American Rental Association (ARA) resources that can benefit rental businesses, was a featured session on Day One of the event.
The ARA discussion, led by Josh Nickell, ARA vice president, equipment segment, with Shannon Dinwiddie, ARA member services account specialist for Region Ten, focused on benefits, including:

- The new partnership between ARA and Westland Insurance Group offering insurance solutions to members across all Canadian provinces.
- RentalU — ARA’s online education platform offering an extensive library of training courses and segment-specific education.
- RentalHQ — How ARA is driving customers to member businesses through the world’s largest and most comprehensive rental store locator.
- ARA’s workforce development initiatives, including the ARA Job Posting Portal where members can post available positions in their business. The job postings are seen by thousands of candidates through many national job boards with whom the association has partnered, including Monster.com, Military.com, CareerBuilder.com and more.
- Professional partnership programs and networking opportunities available through the association.
“It was awesome to be back at the first in-person Rental Mart in years,” Nickell says. “It was a great event with ARA Region Ten director, Angie [Venekamp, general manager of Rental Network, Squamish, British Columbia], presenting on the Women in Rental panel and ARA presenting on the Canadian rental market and member benefits to support their business.”
“It was a great couple of days of interacting with both members and prospective members alike,” Dinwiddie says of her experience at Canadian Rental Mart. “There was a lot of excitement around our new insurance and educational programs, and attendees were so happy to have ARA staff available in person to discuss their business needs. Of course, The ARA Show™ coming up in Orlando was a definite topic of conversation as well.”
