A message from your regional director

Hello, American Rental Association (ARA) Region Seven members.

I can’t believe we are in October already. It’s been really busy at our operation, which is good. We are grateful for the drop in gas prices that we experienced a while ago. That eased some of the tension with our deliveries. I am sure it helped your businesses, too. Let’s hope they don’t creep up too much during the next few months.

Since my last message, we were thrilled that Tony Conant, ARA CEO, had an opportunity to come to Colorado in July. During his time here, he was able to visit several equipment and event rental operations, which was great. I know everyone appreciated spending time with him. We hope to see him again soon.

Speaking of ARA, there is a lot happening at both the national and state levels.

On the national front, don’t forget to check out ARA’s new solution for your group health care needs offered through Allstate Benefits. It could provide you the cost savings, flexibility and quality health benefits you need. For details, click here.

There are three big ARA events taking place. The first two in our region are the ARA Young Professional and Women in Rental conferences on Nov. 29-30 in Scottsdale, Ariz. They have already sold out. That is fantastic. I know those who attend will gain so much from these events.

The third event is The ARA Show™. This one-and-only buying, education and networking event for the equipment and event rental industry will take place Feb. 11-15, 2023, in Orlando. Housing has been open for some time. You should have received your online Show Planner by now, so check out all that is in store for you in Orlando and register beginning Oct. 18 at ARAshow.org.

Closer to home, the ARA of Colorado hosted the ARA Certified Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) training Aug. 24. We had a great turnout and now all the participants are certified trainers who can train their staff. The state chapter also offered a fun time Sept. 24 at Coors Field in Denver to see the Rockies take on the San Diego Padres. Everyone who attended had a blast.

The ARA of Arizona offered an educational and fun event at Topgolf on Sept. 28. ARA’s James Auerbach, vice president for the event segment and rental industry workforce development, spoke about ARA resources that directly benefit your business. He talked about all the member benefits, including the advocacy with legislators for both the equipment and event rental segments. It was awesome.

Both Colorado and Arizona will be offering holiday gatherings, so watch your email for event and registration details.

Before I close, I want to offer my congratulations to T.J. Hermesman, owner and general manager, Ted’s True Value Rental, Durango, Colo., who also serves as treasurer for the ARA of Colorado. He was the rental professional from our region who was profiled in the “12 to watch under 40” section in the September issue of Rental Management. Way to go, T.J.

I also want to welcome Katey Naylor, CEM, event director, Bright Event Rentals, Phoenix, who just joined the ARA of Arizona board as secretary. Thank you, Katey, for stepping up to serve.

I hope all of you have a great fall.
