ARA of Pennsylvania celebrated summer with a weekend of fun

On Aug. 6-7, the ARA of Pennsylvania hosted a weekend of summer fun that delighted members, their coworkers and families.

First up, on Saturday, Aug. 6, was a group outing at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Pa., to watch the Altoona Curve take on the Akron RubberDucks. The ARA of Pennsylvania did it in style, too, taking in the action from the Breezeline Sports Den, a luxury suite with high-definition TVs and climate-controlled interior.

Rob Leiser, owner, Leiser's of Easton Rentalbarn, Forks Township, Pa., drove more than three hours to attend the game but says it was worth it because “after two years, it was time to get together with old friends. I enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of minor league baseball.”

Although the Curve fell to the visiting RubberDucks, the participants enjoyed their time together in the suite and with a post-game fireworks display.

The next day, Sunday, Aug. 7, the Hersheypark Family Fun Day took place, offering attendees access to all park rides and attractions, shows, water park and a catered lunch.

“I attended to have fun with my family and team,” says Sue Horn, president, Action Party Rentals, Allentown, Pa., who traveled to Hersheypark with a contingent of 24 people. “It was a great day; my team loved it!”

The Hersheypark event’s benefit as a “thank you” to employees and their families also was appreciated by Jim Day, president of Turf Teq, Honey Brook, Pa., which was represented by seven at the event. “We attended the event at Hersheypark to meet other ARA [American Rental Association] members, provide a benefit for our employees and their families, and, most importantly, to have a fun play day,” he says.

“We have attended for several years as it is a great way to get out and have fun with our employees and industry peers,” says Josh Miller, president/CEO, RSS Distributors, Manheim, Pa., who attended with a group of 14 and cites his favorite part of the Hersheypark event as “the buffet lunch. We were exhausted from walking around the park in the morning, and it was very nice to be able to get a catered lunch and sit in the shade while catching up with industry friends. I hope we continue to have this event in the future.”
