A message from your regional director

Hello, American Rental Association (ARA) Region One members. It seems like we are back to our busy season like it was prior to the pandemic. I hope you are having a busy summer so far. With all of us having to be more involved in the operations of the business, I know it’s hard to find time to focus on the resources available to us through ARA, but I encourage you to do so — there are solutions there to help us navigate tough business challenges that we all share.

We’re all impacted by labor shortages that cause some companies to turn away business, so I encourage you to take advantage of the ARA Job Portal. ARA members receive five free job postings there, so why not try it out?

The new ARA Healthcare Solution is up and running. It is really easy to get a quote — you’ll just need to send the plan administrator your employees’ names and dates of birth, and they will send you several different plans to choose from. If you haven’t already, take time to check the program out to see if it is right for your business. Visit ARAhealth.org to get started.

Our state associations have been presenting quality events that can help up your game. For example, in April, the ARA of Maine hosted a state police officer who reviewed all the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations that can help rental operators avoid violations. And during April and June, the ARA of New York offered a rental contract information session/Topgolf social; hands-on training sessions for the ARA Certified MEWP (mobile elevating work platforms) Train-the-Trainer courses; and a sustainable business growth seminar. There really is something for everyone at the state chapter level. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your local chapter with ideas on specific events you would like to see happen. Remember, the association is here to strengthen the industry, so we encourage feedback and ideas from members.

The ARA Show™ in Orlando is approaching (Feb. 11-15, 2023). Registration opens on Oct. 18, but I suggest you book your hotel room now to get the best rates. Be sure to book through onPeak — ARA’s official hotel partner. You’ll get the best priced room, flexible options and the ability to book now and pay later. Get started right here.

On a personal note, my family and I want to thank everyone who offered their support and encouragement during my son Bryce’s bone marrow transplant in May, and for supporting the amazing event for Brothers For Bryce at the Worcester Bravehearts game in June. Your thoughtfulness means the world to us.

Best of luck for a safe and profitable season with limited headaches.
